The Vanity Project is a self-titled album of twelve songs from Barenaked Ladies lead singer Steven Page. Barenaked Ladies have sold over ten million records worldwide on the heels of hits like “One Week,” “Pinch Me,” and “Brian Wilson.” They have a devoted following and are an enormously popular live act.

Over the past four or five years, Steven Page and Stephen Duffy would work on songs for The Vanity Project when time permitted between Stephen Duffy’s songwriting and production work (next up is the new Robbie Williams’ album) and when Steven Page had spare time from Barenaked Ladies. The album is a potent blend of songs – some witty (“Hit & Run” “So. Cal”), some political (“Wilted Rose” “Everything’s the Same”) and others emotionally poignant (“These Wasted Words”). The first single, “That’s All, That’s All” is a gorgeous love song with a distinct Lennon-McCartney feel. Page’s voice is beautiful with a powerful, almost operatic range. The Vanity Project is intimate, blissful and sweet – a chance to discover another side to Steven Page.

Opening for Page will be Clarias.

Clarias rocks in the space where jam meets pop. This pop-rock-jam hybrid eschews any simple description of its sound. Clarias music has roots in jazz, jam and folk while creating a sound that appeals to a wide and eclectic audience. Checkout Clarias on their website at: www.clariasmusic.com.

DONAVON FRANKENREITER

“The surfing keeps me alive, and the music keeps me grounded”

Born on December 10, 1972 in Downey, California Donavon Frankenreiter currently resides in Laguna Beach, CA among the things he loves – his wife, his son, his guitar, and the ocean.

Growing up, his days revolved around the water, surfing every chance he had. At age 13, Billabong became Donavon’s first sponsor and afforded him a role most surfers dream of, that of a free surfer – paid to ride the waves, but not required to surf in competition. Although he still surfs every chance he gets, Donavon’s focus has shifted towards his music.

When Donavon was 15, he got his first guitar but it wasn’t until he was 18 that he started playing seriously and formed his high school band Peanut Butter and Jam. He has always loved to play music, but only in the last three years, has he discovered his own voice, style and confidence to go at it on his own.

Donavon likes to keep it simple, allowing his music to be inspired by anything that moves him, especially his surfing. In 2003, Donavon signed to Brushfire Records and released his self-titled debut in May 2004. For the last year he has toured extensively throughout the US, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and Europe in support of the record. www.donavonf.com
